Tate® offers advanced air sealing grommet for raised access floors
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JESSUP, MD, March 2011
Tate partners with Upsite Technologies to deliver Tate KOLDLOK
Tate®, a market leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of raised access flooring and in-floor cooling solutions, has partnered with Upsite Technologies, the leading provider of bypass airflow sealing solutions, to deliver an advanced air sealing grommet for raised access floors – the Tate KOLDLOK grommet.
"The partnership between Tate and Upsite Technologies was forged from the common understanding that the raised floor design is the most cost-effective and flexible way to future proof a data center," said Tate General Manager Donal Curtin. "Together we can deliver solutions that ensure the highest efficiency in data centers by eliminating bypass airflow."
The Tate KOLDLOK air sealing grommet is designed to prevent air leakage from the underfloor plenum where penetrations in the raised floor deliver power, data and other services to equipment above the floor. The 8.75 x 11-inch injection molded ABS plastic grommet features an interior crennelated design that provides a superior seal over other brush style grommets, improving air sealing performance and saving significant energy.
Supplied with an optional rigid lid capable of supporting up to 250 pounds, the Tate KOLDLOK grommet can be installed at the same time as the raised floor, taking advantage of a standard cutout location developed by Tate and supplied from the factory. The lid prevents equipment from being rolled over it and allows raised floor installers to place the cut-out in the floor as they build out the facility. Located four inches from the edge of the panel and centered, the cutout is always in the proper location inside the back door of the IT equipment rack.
Combining the KOLDLOK grommet and the Tate cutout reduces time and labor costs during construction while ensuring a superior seal. And because Tate cutouts can be used with any size rack, they can be stored in reserve at a facility for future moves, adds or changes.
The air sealing grommet joins Tate ContainAire™ solutions and DirectAire™, SmartAire™ and PowerAire™ in-floor cooling devices, expanding Tate's product offering for the data center market and contributing to more energy efficient data center environments.
Tate and Upsite Technologies will kick off their partnership and introduce the Tate KOLDLOK air sealing grommet at AFCOM’s Data Center World conference and expo (Booth # 807), March 27-31 at the Mirage Hotel and Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
