Tate Receives ISO 9001:2000 Certification Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JESSUP, MD, January 2007

In December 2006, Tate Access Floors was recommended for ISO 9001:2000 Certification by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance. Applicable to both the Jessup and Red Lion manufacturing facilities, Tate received official certification in January 2007, giving Tate even more of a competitive edge in the marketplace. Tate achieved the certification in a short time from making an application which is a testimony to the robustness of Tate’s Quality Management System.

What is ISO? In 1946, delegates from 25 countries met in London and decided to create a new international non-governmental organization, of which the object would be "to facilitate the international coordination and unification of industrial standards". The new organization, ISO (International Organization for Standardization), officially began operations in 1947. Comprised of a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries, with a Central Secretariat in Switzerland that coordinates the system, ISO is the world's largest developer of standards. They agree on specifications and criteria to be applied consistently world-wide in the classification of materials, in the manufacture and supply of products, in testing and analysis, in terminology and in the provision of services.

What makes ISO 9001:2000 certification so important? ISO standards level the playing field. ISO 9001:2000 Certification is recognized world-wide as the authoritative approval of an organization's Quality Management System. It makes clear the requirements of the Quality Management System to ensure that the products satisfy the customers in world markets. The ISO standard also requires the organization to demonstrate continual improvement in the effectiveness of the Quality Management System. As a result, ISO 9001:2000 certified suppliers can compete on an equal basis in markets everywhere. If a company is ISO certified it shows that their processes and/or services have been examined and met very strict guidelines.
